WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Diana Irey Vaughan, candidate for State Treasurer of Pennsylvania.
“State treasurers and auditors are playing increasingly important roles as state legislatures across the country advance legislation to defund abortion-centered businesses like Planned Parenthood. The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Diana Irey Vaughan for State Treasurer,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “A longtime pro-life leader in her community, Diana is committed to keeping taxpayer dollars from funding abortions and advancing a culture of respect for Life. She has a unique opportunity as State Treasurer to help keep taxpayers out of the abortion business.
“The SBA List Candidate Fund is thrilled to support Diana’s candidacy. We look forward to seeing her pro-life voice replace that of Planned Parenthood advocate Rob McCord in November.”
While serving as the Washington County Commissioner from 1995 to 2012, Irey Vaughan earned the endorsement of People Concerned for the Unborn Children. Since announcing her candidacy as State Treasurer, Irey Vaughan has been endorsed by LIFE PAC of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.
On November 6, Irey Vaughan will face Democratic incumbent State Treasurer Rob McCord. McCord has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC.
During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.
